the saints of God and especially to the prophet’s ministry, prophetic people, and churches. My study originated with a verse in 1 Corinthians 14:32 – “And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.” You will notice the plurality of the word
spirits as well as the word
prophets. This is significant because the word
spirits refers to demon spirits, human spirits, and most of all to angels.
I immediately began to look to the Bible and especially to the activity of angels in the prophet’s ministry and found that many of the prophets of the Bible had angels that work with them and on their behalf.
A Few examples; Abraham had angelic visitations (Genesis 21:17 & 22:11,15), Moses (Exodus 3:2), Elijah (1 Kings 19:7 & 2 Kings 1:3,15) and Elisha (2 Kings 6:16,17). Elisha prayed that God would open his servant’s eyes. Notice this point that open eyes and prayer are used in the same verse. Then in Zachariah chapters 4-6 he especially has an abundance of angels working with him.
Next, there are several examples of saints who had visitations of angels. For example: Hagar (Genesis 16:7-11), Abraham’s servant (Genesis 24:40), Israel Collectively (Exodus 23:20-23, 32:34, & 33:2), and Samson’s parents (Judges 13:3-13). Then we must add Philip the Evangelist to the list (Acts 8:26), plus Peter (Acts 12:7,8), and Paul (Acts 27:23).
A point of warning about angels: It was Paul who told the Colossian church that they were not to worship angels (Colossians 2:18). So, there must have been an abundance of angels appearing in the beginning of the church. They are servants of God just like we are and are not to be worshiped (Revelation 22:8,9).
According to the word of God there are angels camped around us. We have been assigned angels to protect us. There are guardian angels. Also, angels that announce God’s message to us just as they did to the shepherds in Jesus' time. They are sent to aid and help us fulfill the work and will of God in the earth (Hebrews 1:14). They also help to bring in the harvest in the end time (Matthew 13:39). This is not an exhaustive collection of angelic activity, but just a few examples.
Now we need to know how to access the realm of the invisible and how to cooperate with the angels who are under the command of Jesus and assignment capabilities of the Holy Spirit.
First, but not least, the believer needs to be filled with the Holy Spirit and pray in the Spirit or in other tongues. It is at the place of prayer that we tap into the invisible and the power of God. An Old Testament example is portrayed in the life of Abraham and Jacob. Notice theses verses in (Gen. 12:7,8) where we see Abraham after an encounter with God building an altar (place of prayer and worship) to the Lord. Again, in (Gen. 13:3,4) when he was returning from Egypt he went back to Bethel where he had prayed before and called on the name of the Lord.
Then in Jacob’s story we see him fleeing from Esau his brother. He stops to rest his head on a rock and sleep. The rock that he was resting on could have quite possible been a rock from Abraham's prayer altar that Abraham built there. While sleeping he has a dream and sees a ladder going up to heaven and angels going up and down it. At this place where Abraham prayed, a place of prayer, the heavens are open, the realm of the invisible to the natural eye is open, and his spiritual eyes are open. He sees into the realm where supernatural things are happening and his response was “surely the Lord was in this place and I knew it not” (Genesis 28:10-22). So it is with us, heavenly angels and heaven’s activity are all around us at that place of prayer and many do not even realize it, BUT God wants us to. He wants us to keep our promises we made when we were in His Presence. Jacob made a promise and God kept him protected for over twenty years and brought him back to Bethel where he made a vow and told him to build an altar there. That is, make your own prayer memories. And Jacob kept his word (Genesis 35:1-7).
If we want to tap into the spiritual realm we must have a place where we pray in the spirit. When we do the Holy Spirit prays the will of God for us. Then the angels who hearken to the word of God in our mouth are assigned to help us carry out God’s will and purpose for the advancement of His Kingdom in the earth through us. Remember Paul said we may speak with the tongue of men and angels so whose not to say that when we pray in tongues that the Holy Spirit is giving instructions to OUR angels for us and on our behalf (1 Corinthians 13:1).
Now when we look closely at the book of Revelation then we see a lot of Angel activity taking place in end time events. An Angel is involved with the return of Jesus for the church, an announcement angel.
WORD FOR 2019:
The more we get closer to the end, and we are in the last of the last days, then we are going to have many of the angels of God helping us. We must be in tune with the spiritual realm to accomplish what we are assigned to do. In 2019 we will see and hear of more angelic activity than ever before. The devil has come down among us with great fury trying to discourage God’s people and take them out of circulation through death and destruction and various other tactics. However, the Lord is going to open the eyes of those of His people who are spiritually in tune with Him. They are going to walk in the realm of the Spirit more than ever before. They are going to tap into the supernatural and they are going to have book of Acts experiences. Their angels are going to work with them like they did with Moses and the same signs and wonders are going to take place all around the world as Daniel said, “but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits” (Daniel 11:32).
